Solmuteoriaa - Angry Birds Stella Crochet Pattern

There are so many different Angry Birds crochet patterns already available. Problem is that the majority of them use felt and other accessories to make the details. I couldn't find one with 100% crochet, so I made one.

Materials

Stella Body

Body is done working in a spiral from top to bottom. There is no need to join rounds but rather just continue around.

R1: 10 sc into magic ring [10]
R2: 2 sc into each st [20]
R3: sc around [20]
R4: (sc, inc) around [30]
R5: sc around [30]
R6: sc around [30]
R7: (1 sc, inc) around [45]
R8: sc around [45]
R9: (2 sc, inc) around [60]
R10: sc around [60]
R11: sc around [60]
R12: sc around [60]
R13: sc around [60]
R14: sc around [60]
R15: sc around [60]
R16: sc around [60]
R17: sc around [60]
R18: sc around [60]
R19: (2 sc, dec) around [45]
R20: sc around [45]
R21: sc around [45]
R22: (1 sc, dec) around [30]
R23: sc around [30]
R24: (1 sc, dec) around [20]
R25: dec around [10]
R26: dec around, sl st [5]

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Finish stuffing the body with fiber fill and sew the remaining hole shut.

Stomach patch

R1: 10 sc into magic ring [10]

TIP: To help align all the details symmetrically in place, wrap a piece of yarn around the body.

Position the stomach patch under the body, slightly offset towards the front, and sew it tightly.

Beak

The beak is crocheted in a spiral without joining between rounds. Use yellow yarn.

Feathers

Feathers are worked in a spiral. Also to add little detail, vary the height of each feather by a row or two. Make three feathers. Use pink yarn.

Tail

Tail consists of three sets of chains with stitches. Avoid tight stitches so the tail won't curve too much. Use black yarn

R1: 6 ch, sc to 2nd chain and across [5]
R2: 6 ch, sc to 2nd chain and across [5]
R3: 6 ch, sc to 2nd chain and across [5]

Eyes

Eyes are done working in a spiral. Don't join between rounds. Make two eyes. Use white yarn.

R1: 10 sc into magic ring [10]
R2: (1 sc, inc) around [15]

R1: 4 sc into magic ring, sl st [4]

Sew the irises in the middle of the eyes. Use the beginning yarn of the eye to make a small pupil in the middle of the iris.

Select three adjacent eye stitches. The eyelashes are attached to the front loops of those stitches. This makes them come out from under the eye and hide the attachment of the black yarn.

Attach the black yarn to the front loop of the first selected stitch. Chain 2 and fasten off. Make the next two eyelashes similarly to the adjacent stitches with chain 3 and chain 4, respectively.

Finishing Stella

Sew the beak (stuff with fiber fill before closing), feathers, tail and the eyes in place using the yarn wrapped around the body as a guidance.
