Hey Duggee is one of my 1-year-olds favourite shows at the moment. Having already made him Duggee from an existing pattern, I thought about which character I'd like to do next. This cute frog was an obvious choise.
Finished size of the frog is about 10cm x 10cm
Materials
3 mm crochet hook
Green, white and black worsted weight yarns
Fiber fill
Needle for sewing
Frog Body
Frog is shaped as a tetrahedron in which all four faces are equilateral triangles. You could crochet four triangles and sew them together, but I chose to do them all in one go.
First triangle
Use green yarn.
Don't fasten off, but continue to make the second triangle.
Second triangle
Third triangle
Repeat the second triangle.
Fourth triangle
Repeat the second triangle, but on the first row, sc to flo, not blo. This way all seams bend the same way. Don't fasten off.
If you did the triangles the same way I did, beginning tip and ending tip will match each other when forming the tetrahedron
Finishing the body
Fold the triangles so that it forms a tetrahedron. Hold two triangle edges together.
Repeat previous step for the second seam. Fasten off.
Stuff the frog with fiber fill. Not too full so the tetrahedron won't lose its shape
Attach new green yarn and close the last seam using the same method as the other two.
Eyes
Use white yarn.
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing. Sew the hole shut and slip the remaining yarn through the eye so that it comes out from the middle of the two eyes. You can use that to sew it to the body.
Use black yarn. Make two.
Position the black dots so that eyes look a bit inwards and sew in place.
Choose a side from the tetrahedron body where stiches are horizontal. Place the eyes so that the tip of the tetrahedron is just behing them. Sew tightly in place.
